Pinedale California has a very rich, and proud history that is not widely know.  Established as a company town for the Sugar Pine Lumber Company of Fresno March 24, 1923.  The Sugar Pine Lumber Mill of Pinedale was the largest and most modern mill of its time.

After the attack of Pearl Harbor the site of the closed lumber mill was converted into a temporary assembly center to intern and process Japanese Americans while the permanent sites were built.

After the Assembly center was closed the site was uses as Western Aviation Signal Training Unit and the 840th Supply Depot, know as  Camp Pinedale.
